Enberg and Grant will remain broadcast partners this year, assuming MLB ratifies the Fox-Padres venture. But Enberg's contract, widely thought to expire after this season, also covers 2013 and 2014.
Earlier today, I wrote that it looked like the Padres added the years 2013 and 2014 to the contract. Actually, those years were part of the original deal, apparently as option years.
I also wrote that "the discovery that Enberg is under contract through the 2014 season doesn't change this blog's belief that Fox will lean toward hiring a new play-by-play man for the 2013 season,
with Enberg shifting to a studio role." Let me clarify: That's only my opinion. It's worth noting that the Padres signed Enberg as a play-by-play man, potentially through 2014, when they hired him leading up to the 2010 season.
